The article analyzes the mechanisms of state support for the development of renewable energy. Over the past decade green energy has become one of the fastest growing fields on the global energy market which successfully competes with hydrocarbons. However, the success of this energy sector is mostly based on the large-scale government support schemes. The study examines key trends that characterize the alternative energy market. This article provides a historical overview as well as a detailed analysis of current subsidy support schemes in the US, China, India, Britain and Russia. The main features of renewable energy state support methods in these countries are considered.
