Since the 2000s, a number of researchers have noted an increase in the socio-economic polarization of the Russian space, especially in the Central Federal District. At the same time, the dynamics of the migration population movement at the municipal level has increased. Over the period from 2011 to 2016 in more than 65% of the CFD municipal districts (without Moscow and Moscow region) there was a migration outflow.

In this paper, we analyze the impact of economic factors on the migration inflow in the municipal and city districts of the CFD five regions in 2011–2016. For this purpose, data about migration and economy in 134 municipalities of the Kaluga, Voronezh, Tver, Smolensk and Yaroslavl regions has been collected. Econometric models are presented.

The results showed the influence on the migration inflow of the average monthly salary of workers in organizations (manufacturing industries), as well as the average number of employees of organizations. In addition, due to the limited number of economic parameters published in open sources about municipalities, the research theme deserves a detailed analysis in the future.
