Today the JSC Kaliningrad Amber Combine is the only enterprise in Russia and the biggest one in the world which performs an industrial amber mining that has a license for the amber raw material extraction and processing. Since 1947 the Russian amber industry has gone through a difficult path of development from a virtually monopolist on the natural amber world market to the largest exporter of the raw amber materials, but in the last few years there have been changes aimed atreturning Russia leaders positions in the world amber processing.
