Evolution of the Sustainable Mobility Concept

In the article the author considers main prerequisites for a shift from the automobile-centric transport development that was inherent to the developed countries in the 20th century, towards more sustainable forms. The author proposes a definition of the term "sustainable mobility" and describes the essence of the sustainable mobility concept analysing the main supranational documents regulating international cooperation on the implementation of this concept. The main directions of the sustainable mobility concept implementation  in practice are presented to be considered as tools to reduce the global negative effects of transport activities, including climatic changes, atmospheric pollution and high levels of deaths and injuries in road accidents.
