Geographical Potential of the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Harbor

Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky is located at a very busy intersection of maritime trade routes, which connect all of the world’s oceans, as well regions with huge human resources and economical potential, East and South-East Asia, with America and Europe. Depth and size of the harbor is not enough for serving transit ships with displacement of more than 100 thousand tons. It must be improved and expanded, taking into account the tsunami hazard and the increase in transportation intensity on Northern maritime trade routes.

Keywords
