Knowledge Economy and Entrepreneurial Universities: Essential Characteristics and Development in Modern Russia

The article analyzes the essential characteristics of the knowledge economy, identifies the features and limitations of its development in modern Russia, in particular, the problems of human resources, high depreciation of fixed assets, the lack of a constructive link between education, science and business, low innovative activity of domestic enterprises, underfunded education and science along with excessive share of government funding compared with developed countries. The prospects for the implementation of the Triple Helix model and entrepreneurial universities in Russia to solve the identified problems and the development of the knowledge economy as a whole are explored.
