Russian Old Believers in the System of Church-state Relations

The article is devoted to the study of the old believers’ historical development and the modern position of this confession in the system of Russian state-confessional relations. This article examines the experience of statistical calculation, geographical distribution, cultural isolation, and various forms of interactions of these religious groups. The authors come to the conclusion that the old believers can be defined as a group identity that goes beyond exclusively religion and despite the persecutions they are reviving Russian people's traditions and express themselves at the state level in the modern world.
