Higher Education as a Factor of Transformation of the Ukrainian Social Structure

Oleg А. Zubchyk

Ph.D., Associate Professor, Taras Shevchenko National University, Kyiv, Ukraine.
E-mail: zubchyk@ukr.net

The article is devoted to the study of political transformation of the Ukrainian society in the context of the Ukrainian state-building processes. The author states that the social and political life, the legal culture and the education system form an organic unity. The state often solves the economic problems at the expense of higher education. A direct function of higher education is the reproduction of both the social structure of the society and the existing socio-professional conflicts. The main problem is not the multiplication of these contradictions, but the fact that in the public eye it is seen as unfair. For Ukraine, this problem is particularly acute. Professional formation of youth in Ukraine is accompanied by a critical assessment of the “society of the past” and the non-existent model of the future. These problems and contradictions necessitate a scientific approach to the study of the process of professional self-determination and adaptation of young people in today’s labor market, which can result in permanent changes to the state educational policy.
