Modern Russia in the Perception of the Student Youth: A Sociological Analysis

The article discusses the results of the monitoring carried out by the Institute of Sociology of the Russian Academy of Sciences in October 2015; the monitoring was aimed at studying the transformation processes in today’s Russia. The article analyses students’ responses and their views on the current situation in Russia as a whole, internal and external threats to the country and its development outlooks, students’ plans for life, their self-sufficiency or dependence on the state, attitude to freedom and material well-being, and readiness to make sacrifices for the sake of important objectives in the context of national security. The article highlights relevance and importance of civic, patriotic and moral education of young people to define the citizens’ life strategies and national development.
