Armies and Politics: the Nature of Military Coups in the Cold War Era (1940−1980)

During the Cold War, military coups were caused not only by internal issues, but by international contradictions of the era, primarily the ones between the USSR and the USA, between alternative models of social development. The article examines the typology of military coups considering both internal and external factors of politicization of armed forces and their ways to power.
