The information technology (IT) made s significant impact the socio-economic development in the past. Nowadays IT continues to grow rapidly and create new opportunities for improving the quality of public administration. Modern IT, as a comfortable and familiar known tool for daily professional activities of citizens, should be involved in interactions with the public authorities. Despite significant progress in the development of information society and e-government, the potential of social media is only partially implemented in public administration in Russia.
