The Limitations of the Current Approach to Internationalization of Higher Education

The article examines the limitations of the current approach to internationalization of higher education. The author defines the reasons for growing interest in internationalization of education and establishes the most distinctive features of globalization and internationalization, as well as the interrelation of the two processes. The article presents an analysis of the ongoing changes in national and international missions of the higher education institutions and proposes a model of sustainable internationalization based on principles of reciprocity, stakeholder’s interests and outcome accountability.
