“Lean Government”: Prospects of Lean technologies in Public Service Organizations in Russia and abroad

Principles and methods of “Lean manufacturing” in public administration today is an object of rigorous research. The methodology has proved itself effective in private sector, both in manufacturing and in services. Its adjustment to the needs of the state and local governments is now known as “Lean Government”. The authors attempt to analyze the “Lean Government” initiatives in the US and the UK, as well as the first steps towards “Lean Government” in Russia. The author outlines the key aspects of the new concept and considers the peculiarities of its application area and the conditions of its effective implementation.
