Issues in Local Government Consolidation

Thomas Sinclair

One of the main symbols of American democracy is a town council — a form of government typical for New England states. Town council is unable to meet the requirements of modern public administration, since it creates superfluous administration systems unable to solve modern socio-economic problems. The article examines the economical, political and administrative aspects of picking the right type of local administration on the example of Broom county, New-York, which is currently trying to unify its public administration.

Keywords

Town council, local administration, public administration, civil service, Broom County, New-York.
