Social Aspects of Telecommuting

The article examines the phenomenon of telecommuting. The author attempts to refine the terminology and classify the types of remote work depending on the degree of workers’ employment. The author pays specific attention to the reasons behind the growing percentage of both employers and employees utilizing telecommuting in their work practice. The author concludes that today telecommuting becomes a viable alternative to standard forms of employment. This type of employment is also linked to an improvement in a workers’ quality of life.
