Bilateral Interaction in the Face of a Crisis (Austria-Russia Relations in March 1848)

The article is devoted to the relations between Russia and the Austrian Empire in March 1848. The author gives a brief overview of the previous history of relations between the two countries, studies the dynamics of Austria-Russia interconnections in the spring of 1848 and the impact of the European revolution on the relations between the two empires. The author examines in particular detail the role of Austrian public opinion and its impact of the decisions of the Russian government concerning its relations with Austria. The author analyzes the impact the issues of nationality had on Austria-Russia relations. The main conclusion of the article is that the considerably cooperation potential, accumulated be Austria and Russia was not wasted during the revolution and after the crisis was over the two states were able to continue to cooperate.
