Indicators of Social Quality in Japan

The purpose of this paper is to present a set of indicators to establish the empirical basis of the concept of social quality in Japan. The author examines the main social problems Japan faces today — the aging situation and its impact on social security system, and the inequality, which is growing steadily since the 1980s. The author also analyzes each of the four main factors of social quality.
